Flux (by Black Forest Labs) has become one of the leading open-weight AI image models in 2026. Its exports are widely used but carry identifiable metadata that makes them easy to flag.

What Flux Embeds

• PNG tEXt chunks with model name (flux-dev, flux-schnell, flux-pro)
• XMP CreatorTool tag
• C2PA when exported via BFL's hosted API
• Prompt and sampler in ComfyUI workflow JSON if generated locally

Difference vs Midjourney and SDXL

Midjourney adds signed C2PA and an XMP watermark. SDXL adds Stability metadata + optional invisible watermark. Flux is lighter but leaves prompt data in PNG chunks unless stripped.

Cleaning Flux Exports

• Convert PNG to JPEG (drops most workflow chunks)
• Run through InstaLabelRemover for full C2PA, XMP, IPTC removal
• Inject iPhone or DSLR EXIF for authenticity
