How to Remove “AI Info” on Instagram: Options & Limits

Can you remove the AI Info label from an Instagram post?

Cleaning a photo’s metadata creates a new file. It does not edit a post already published on Instagram, and it cannot guarantee that Instagram will remove or omit an AI Info label. The next step depends on whether you are preparing a new upload, dealing with an existing post, or investigating a real photo that was labeled after editing.

Why does Instagram add AI Info?

Meta says it uses industry-standard AI indicators and disclosures from people uploading content. Its September 2024 update distinguishes AI-generated content from content only edited with AI: for the latter, AI information can appear in the post’s menu. The label alone does not tell you which signal was responsible.

See Meta’s explanation of AI labeling. This is the platform’s stated approach, not a guarantee about the outcome for an individual file.

Before a new upload: inspect and prepare the file

    1. Keep the original. Save an untouched copy so you can compare the files.
    2. Inspect the metadata. Use our before-and-after audit checklist to distinguish EXIF, IPTC/XMP and Content Credentials.
    3. Create an export. In InstaLabelRemover, choose a device profile and add a supported JPG, PNG or WebP photo. The photo tool re-encodes it as JPEG and writes replacement EXIF fields.
    4. Check the result. Inspect its metadata, dimensions and appearance before sharing. A camera profile describes the replacement fields; it does not prove that a camera captured the image.
    5. Review the post on Instagram. The platform decides which label to display. Keep any disclosures that apply to your content.

What if the post is already published?

InstaLabelRemover has no access to your Instagram posts and cannot alter their labels. Inspect the information and any review options available in Instagram. If you choose to publish a new export, that creates a separate upload; it does not change the original post or guarantee a different label.

What if a real photograph was labeled?

Check the editing and export history, including generative editing tools, and compare with the original file. Metadata can help explain a workflow, but it does not reveal Instagram’s complete decision process. See our guide to real photos labeled as AI.

Does this also work for Reels or visible watermarks?

A photo export does not clean a Reels video. Video processing is a separate Ultimate feature; see current plans. Metadata cleaning also does not erase logos or watermarks drawn into the pixels. Read the product guide for supported operations and limits.

    Where are photos processed?

The website’s photo tool processes the image in your browser. For signed-in users, processed exports can be saved to private account history with a seven-day retention policy. This differs from saying that no file is ever uploaded. See privacy details.
